Questions? We Have Answers!
-
How long does the food last? Most meals will last between 4 -5 days in the fridge. We recommend eating omnivore protein within 4 days. If you have too much food or want to save some for a longer length of time, then we can always plan to freeze it and you can reheat it at a later date.
-
How is the food packaged up?The food is packaged up in containers (we'll use any type of containers that you provide). We usually package up meals batch-style, meaning each dish has its own individual container - but - if you would like us to package up meals so that mains and sides are together in individual portioned out containers we can do that. This will just take longer for us to do! We’ll need to know in advance if you’d like the meals portioned out in individual servings so we can plan for it on the menu.
-
How many servings do you make?We usually prepare around 4 servings of each recipe on the menu. But let us know if you need more servings or a smaller quantity of food and we'll adjust our recipes. We're usually able to prepare 6 to 7 recipes in a 4.5 hour cooking session, depending on the complexity of the recipes. For example, we often prepare 3 main dishes, 3 side dishes and 1 snack (such as a batch of healthy muffins). We could also focus on one-pot dishes instead of making separate mains and sides, if that's more helpful for the type of support you're looking for. For example, we could plan out 5 specific dinners with more of a focus on one-pot recipes, such as a hearty stew or a stir fry that includes both protein and vegetables.

Do I need special kitchen equipment?Nope! You’ll only need to have standard cooking equipment in your kitchen for us to use - pots, pans, mixing bowls, measuring spoons/cups, cutting boards, baking dishes/sheets. We have a detailed list of kitchen equipment that we send to clients before we come over. It’s very helpful if you have a food processor and a high speed blender for making certain recipes, but we can make do without them if you don’t have them. If you have a slow cooker that’s also helpful (but not necessary).
-
Do I need to have anything ready or in my pantry for your chef? We’ll always plan out a grocery list for what’s needed for each cooking session beforehand. So you will be able to check and see which items you already have (but we can always buy what’s missing). Your kitchen will need to be clean before we arrive so that we can jump right into cooking (for example, it’s best if the dishwasher is empty before we arrive).
-
How much does private chef cost?Cooking sessions start at $300 plus the cost of ingredients. The cost of ingredients varies depending on what type of food we’re preparing for, how many people we’re cooking for and what your grocery preferences are in terms of organics etc. Grocery cost also varies depending on how many items you already have at home, such as spices and pantry staples. Please reach out for more information and details about the cost of the service!
-
How and when do I pay for private chef?We process payment for you with a credit card after the cooking session and will send a receipt to you with a detailed overview of all the costs.
-
Is there a travel fee? There is no travel for downtown Toronto. However there is a travel fee for other locations, such as Mississauga, Oakville and Richmond Hill. Please reach out for more details about travel fees and overall pricing.

What type of diets and allergies do you work with?We are happy to follow any dietary guidelines that you would like us to incorporate into the menu planning. Before we plan your menus, we find out all about your dietary preferences. Most of our clients tend to be gluten free, dairy free and refined-sugar free so we specialize in recipes that accommodate all of those preferences (we’re also happy to cook for you if you’re not GF or DF!). And we plan personalized menus to accommodate your specific dietary allergies and sensitivities. Here are some examples of diets that we work with: paleo, grain free, gluten free, autoimmune, anti-inflammatory, plant based, vegetarian/vegan, low carb/low-glycemic, carb free

What type of health concerns do you work with?As nutritionists, we plan menus to help support your health concerns and have experience working with digestive disorders, diabetes, pregnancy/postpartum support, cancer and many more health conditions. Our goal is always to combine our nutrition expertise with delicious cooking so that you have wonderful food to enjoy and support you during your health journey.
-
Do you sign up for ongoing sessions or a one time session? We cook for clients on a long term basis so clients are with us for a minimum of 3 months (many of our clients have us cook for several years). We'll cook for you once a week on the same day every week ongoing. Your weekly spot is reserved specifically for you (unless you are away on certain dates) and we'll match you with one of our wonderful nutritionists/chefs so the same person will cook for you each week.
-
How does menu planning work? We’ll plan out a personalized menu for you every week and email it to you 5 to 7 days before your next cooking session. You’ll review the menu and let us know if there are any changes to be made at least 4 days before your cooking session (for example- if your cooking session is on Monday, we’ll need to get your notes by Thursday). We are closed on Saturday and Sunday, so menus for Mondays will be completed before the weekend.
-
How does grocery shopping work?We will always plan out a detailed grocery list for what is needed each week before we come over to cook. You’ll check over the list and remove any items that you already have at home and then we’ll pick up whatever is needed if we’re doing the grocery shopping. Alternatively, if you are doing the grocery shopping, we will send you the list and you can pick up what is needed.
-
Do I always have to be home when you cook?Nope! While some clients prefer to be home, you definitely don’t need to be there. You can arrange with us how you would like us to get in and out of your home.
